Loved her in Family Ties. Really loved her in Family. Is that Meredith Baxter I saw in a preview for this Sunday's episode of Brother & Sisters? I hope she becomes a regular in an already wonderful cast.

What Are You Watching?
What new shows are you watching? I like Shark, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Brothers & Sisters. Is there a good new comedy? I love a good laugh, but can't think of any new entertaining sitcoms. I gave Men in Trees a chance to keep bringing me back, but I lost interest. Marin's radio show chatter is too slick. Her super fast delivery of those Carrie Bradshaw monologues doesn't sound natural enough. I liked them better when SJP was the carrier. I don't find Marin very likeable, either.
In the Returning Shows Dept., The New Adventures of Old Christine is one that makes me laugh out loud -- Julia Louis Dreyfuss is exceptional. ("My brain says 'no' but my pants say 'OFF!' ") The Office often has me laughing within the first 30 seconds. The actor who plays Dwight, Rainn Wilson, deserves an Emmy.

Fall TV Season Selected for Guinness Record Book
When will the new fall TV season be officially over? Remember the good old days, when all the shows premiered during a two-week period in September? Ah...life was simpler then. Now we've still got shows premiering or returning for the first time this season, with Medium coming back to NBC and 3 lbs. debuting on CBS in mid-November. The networks are making it impossible for me to settle into a viewing rhythm. Just when I think I've figured out what to watch (sorry Ugly Betty but you didn't make the cut), something new pops up on the screen.
Speaking of 3 lbs., we don't need another medical drama but this one has Stanley Tucci, which means I'll definitely check it out. It's got that cutie Mark Feurstein (The West Wing and Good Morning Miami), too. A shallow gal like me needs a little eye candy.
And with shows yet to debut, why are there reruns this week? What is wrooooonnnnggggg with this picture? It's way too early for reruns. Somebody needs to consult me before making these decisions. This forces me to tune into my favorite 10 - 11 pm standby, Whose Line Is It Anyway? Even the reruns of that show make me laugh again.

Save Studio 60
I've read that Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip isn't pulling in as many viewers as the network would like, but I hope they give it a chance. Tonight's episode was the best so far. It had heart and depth. CSI Miami's violence and cleavage can't compare. Let's hope they give Studio 60 the time any new drama needs to find its audience.

Oh, the Tangled Webs We Weave
Whew! Treat Williams' character Dr. Andy Brown may have gone down with Everwood, but thank heavens handsome Treat has resurfaced in Brothers & Sisters as a possible love interest for Sally Fields' character, Kitty Walker. Lucky for Treat (and Sally) that Greg Berlanti produced Everwood and now poduces B&S.

Project Didn't-Turn-Out-My-Way
I am very disappointed that Jeffrey won Project Runway. Not only is he a mean sob, he is plain weird. I much prefer Uli -- and my very fave, Laura. And sadly, I am afraid PR has become like basketball: You really only need to watch the last 10 minutes of the game . . . and the last episode of the show.
The Killing Field
Until "Brothers & Sisters" showed up this fall, I was afraid a generation of viewers would know Sally Field only as that actress trying to execute an unusually bad script in commercials for an osteoporosis medicine. In the commercials, Sally helps her mentally challenged friend -- the one who found taking medicine once a week too difficult -- by telling her to ask her doctor about Boniva, a product you take just once a month. Some of us who like Sally -- I mean REALLY LIKE Sally -- know she's just doing the best she can with an awkward script written by a committee, but I was worried that younger viewers wouldn't realize that. She is her amazing self in Brothers & Sisters, a show I look forward to watching.

Jake in the Jury?
Was that Jake Gyllenhaal I saw in the jury hearing Alan Shore's case last night on Boston Legal? Should we be looking for jury celebrity cameos in future BL episodes -- a la Dr. Frazier Crane's call-in wackos?

Six Degrees
No, not the new TV show. We're talking six degrees of separation on ABC's "Brothers & Sisters." Executive Producer Ken Olin has hired his wife and former "30 Something" co-star, Patricia Wettig, as Holly. And tonight Calista Flockhart slept with one of her "Ally McBeal" co-stars, Josh Hopkins. Cozy.
